Mike Sheehan
Mike Sheehan spent the majority of his career on the agency side of the advertising business, beginning as a copywriter and working at a number of agencies in Chicago and Boston including Leo Burnett, DDB Chicago, and Hill Holliday.
He joined Hill Holliday in Boston in 1994, was named President in 2000 and CEO in 2003. During his tenure as President and CEO, the agency grew 85% and became the 12th largest agency in the U.S. and the second largest outside of New York. He retired on his 10-year anniversary as CEO and became Chairman. A few months later, Mike was named CEO of Boston Globe Media Partners (BGMP) for a three-year term where he oversaw the uncoupling of BGMP from the publicly traded New York Times and its establishment as a private company with a focus on digital journalism and paid digital subscriptions.
Mike is currently Managing Partner of Allied Sports, a sports marketing and consulting firm based in New York and a partner in Vermont Donut Enterprises which owns and operates 20 Dunkin’ stores. He serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of A.M. Castle, a specialties metal company based in Oak Brook, IL. He currently serves on the Boards of Trustees of the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University, South Shore Health, and Endicott College. Mike was one of the founders of One Fund Boston, Inc., which raised over $81 million dollars for the survivors of the 2013 bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
“There are few institutions more important to a community than a mutual bank which is large enough to serve the most complex commercial needs but nimble enough to do so without layers of bureaucracy,” he says. “South Shore Bank has been that critical resource for close to 200 years.”
